Solfar
Solfar (Sun Voyager) is a sculpture created by Jon Gunnar Arnason on Reykjavik's seafront. ON this winter morning, the sculpture was surrounded by a sheet of ice, which I did not dare venture onto, but has a fabulous outlook onto the mountains across the sea from Reykjavik.
The Sun Voyager is a dreamboat, an ode to the sun. It is intended to contain within itself the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, and of progress and freedom. The sculpture is located by Sæbraut, by the sea in the centre of Reykjavík, Iceland.
